Parent Coaching
Frequently Asked Questions
-
My coaching is designed for parents of school aged children, including tweens and teens, who struggle with big emotions, transitions, Executive Function skills (planning, organization, time management), or increasing independence. Coaching is especially supportive for families navigating ADHD, Executive Function Challenges and high sensitivity.
-
Parent coaching focuses on helping you better understand your and child’s needs, your goals, your child's brain, identify what’s getting in the way, and develop practical, neuro-inclusive strategies that work in everyday life. Coaching emphasizes skill‐building, collaboration, and reducing stress at home.
-
No. Parent coaching is not therapy or a clinical service. Coaching is action‐oriented and skills‐based, focusing on present challenges and practical solutions rather than diagnosis or past experiences. Although not clinical, it is also trauma informed and neurodiversity affirming to support the complex challenges many families face.
-
Parent coaching works with you - the parents. This allows you to build confidence and skills to support your child consistently in real‐life situations. If you are seeking direct support for your young adult child who attends college, we can discuss college coaching services I also offer, or discuss if a different service than coaching would be a better fit.
-
I work with parents of school aged children, elementary school through high school. Support is a tailored to your child’s developmental stage and individual needs.
-
Coaching length varies depending on your goals. Many families work together for several months to build skills and sustainable systems, while others may benefit from shorter‐term support around specific challenges. I offer an 8 session package to begin coaching - this is often enough time to address most challenges. If more is needed, that would be discussed in a collaborative coaching conversation where we would determine what additional support is needed.
-
Parents receive after‐session summaries with key insights, wins, and action steps. Email support between sessions is available to help you navigate real‐time questions, challenges, or adjustments while trying new strategies.
-
Parents often report:
Reduced stress and overwhelm
Improved communication and fewer power struggles
Better understanding of their child’s brain and needs
More consistent routines and follow‐through
Increased confidence in supporting their child across all domains

A free 30‐minute discovery call is the best way to explore fit. We’ll talk about your concerns, goals, and whether coaching feels like the right next step for you and your family.
Your College Coaching Questions, Answered
-
College coaching is for students who are capable academically but struggle with organization, time management, follow‐through, emotional regulation, or independence. My coaching is especially supportive for students with ADHD, ASD, Executive Function challenges, and High Sensitivity - or any student who benefits from a brain‐based, strengths‐focused approach.
-
College coaching focuses on Executive Function skills, not subject‐specific content. Rather than teaching coursework, coaching helps students build systems for planning, organizing, managing time, starting tasks, regulating emotions, and following through—skills that directly impact academic success and daily functioning.
-
No. While many students I work with have ADHD or Autism (ASD), coaching is appropriate for any college student experiencing Executive Function challenges, overwhelm, or difficulty adjusting to college demands. A formal diagnosis is not required.
-
Coaching commonly supports:
Time management and planning
Organization and prioritization
Task initiation and follow‐through
Emotional regulation and stress management
Flexible thinking and problem‐solving
Independence, accountability, and self‐advocacy
All strategies are personalized and designed to be practical and sustainable.
-
A neurodiversity‐affirming approach recognizes that brains work differently—and that these differences are not deficits. Coaching focuses on understanding how a student’s brain works, building skills without shame, and creating systems that support success without trying to force conformity or “fix” the student.
-
Students often experience:
Improved organization and time management
Reduced stress and burnout
Increased follow‐through and consistency
Greater confidence and independence
Stronger self‐awareness and self‐advocacy skills
More sustainable routines for academic and daily life
Progress looks different for every student and is paced to support long‐term success.
-
Coaching is primarily student‐focused. For younger college students, limited parent involvement may be included when appropriate and helpful, with the goal of supporting the student’s growing independence. If you are seeking parent coaching specifically, please go here.
